Office of Transportation Technologies (OTT)
The Office of Transportation Technologies will work in partnership with the domestic transportation industry, energy supply industry, and research and development organizations to develop and promote user acceptance of advanced transportation vehicles and alternative fuel technologies which will reduce oil import requirements, and reduce criteria pollutant emissions and greenhouse gases. The Office will also develop a strong transportation technology base to enable this industry to assure strong competition in the domestic and world markets.

The Partnership for a New Generation of Vehicles (PNGV) is an historic public/private partnership between the U.S. federal government (led by the Technology Administration at the Department of Commerce, and including 7 agencies and 19 federal laboratories) and DaimlerChrysler, Ford, and General Motors that aims to strengthen America's competitiveness by developing technologies for a new generation of vehicles. Announced at the White House on September 29, 1993 by President Clinton, Vice President Gore, and the CEOs of the domestic auto makers, this national government/industry research program also includes research support for over 350 automotive suppliers, universities, and small businesses.
