Solar Living Institute

Since our founding in 1998, over 9, 250 students have taken our hands-on and online solar PV training courses. Over 3, 000 students have attended our courses on ecological design, sustainable living practices and alternative construction techniques like straw-bale, cob, and bamboo. Students come from all over the United States and from abroad to attend classes taught by professionals in the field. Since 1995, over half a million people have visited our 12-acre demonstration Solar Living Center located in Hopland, California. The site is powered entirely by working renewable energy systems, and features a 5, 000 sq. foot straw bale building with innovative passive solar design and the creative use of recycled materials.
