Since our founding in 1998, over 9, 250 students have taken our hands-on and online solar PV training courses. Over 3, 000 students have attended our courses on ecological design, sustainable living practices and alternative construction techniques like straw-bale, cob, and bamboo. Students come from all over the United States and from abroad to attend classes taught by professionals in the field. Since 1995, over half a million people have visited our 12-acre demonstration Solar Living Center located in Hopland, California. The site is powered entirely by working renewable energy systems, and features a 5, 000 sq. foot straw bale building with innovative passive solar design and the creative use of recycled materials. SunWork Renewable Energy Projects is a California nonprofit based in the South San Francisco Bay Area that works to spread solar power widely by putting up solar electricity systems on area homes with the help of trained volunteers. SunWork's team teaches volunteers to help physically install solar systems, and works together with these volunteers to carry out installations for a lower cost.
