American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM)

ASTM is a not-for-profit organization that provides a forum for producers, users, ultimate consumers, and those having a general interest (representatives of government and academia) to meet on common ground and write standards for materials, products, systems, and services. From the work of 132 standards-writing committees, ASTM publishes standard test methods, specifications, practices, guides, classifications, and terminology. ASTM's standards development activities encompass metals, paints, plastics, textiles, petroleum, construction, energy, the environment, consumer products, medical services and devices, computerized systems, electronics, and many other areas. ASTM Headquarters has no technical research or testing facilities; such work is done voluntarily by 35,000 technically qualified ASTM members located throughout the world.

Global Approval Program for Photovoltaics (PV GAP)

The Global Approval Program for Photovoltaics (PV GAP) is a not-for-profit organization, registered in Switzerland, that focuses on certifying the quality of PV systems. PV GAP also concentrates on the enforcement of international standards that promote the integration of quality. The organization will work to get testing standards into the financing stream. It will also establish international reciprocity of recognition of standards and testing laboratories.

Solar Electric Power Association

ISAAC (ex-LEEE-TISO) (SUPSI, DACD)

The Laboratory of Energy, Ecology and Economy (LEEE) is integrated into the Department of Environment, Construction and Design of the University of Applied Sciences of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI). The LEEE activities mainly concern four fields: - renewable energies (in particular photovoltaics and geothermal energy) - rational use of energy in building (with reference to the MinergieĀ Standard) - applied ecology (air pollution, electrosmog and sustainable development) - economic evaluation of all the above mentioned aspects

PowerMark Corporation

PowerMark Corporation (PMC) was formed to provide PV manufacturers with a certification program that, through the process of product labeling, attests to the module's quality. Product certification involves the formal process of licensing the manufacturer to use a Certificate of Conformity. This program involves the use of formal quality system criteria for the manufacturer, PMC itself, the test laboratories authorized to perform testing in support of the program, and the laboratory accreditation body selected by PMC. PMC's module, system and component certification program is based on both U.S. and International consensus-developed standards.

PV Cycle

PV CYCLE was founded in July 2007 to implement the photovoltaic industry's commitment to set up a voluntary take back and recycling programme for end-of-life-modules and to take responsibility for PV modules throughout their entire value chain. PV modules are designed to generate clean, renewable energy for over 25 years. With the first significant installations in the early 1990s, full-scale end-of-life recycling is still another 10-15 years away.
