The Irish Wind Energy Association is a voluntary organisation of people interested in the promotion of wind energy in Ireland. In the 1980s the Solar Energy Association of Ireland represented the interests of those interested in any form of renewable energy, with the exception of those involved with hydroelectric power, who already had their own association. These organisations consisted mainly of people determined to do something to help develop environmentally-friendly, non-polluting sources of energy. In 1993 those interested in wind energy in particular formed the Irish Wind Energy Association. The association has grown to several hundred members since then. There are over 338 MW of wind turbines installed in the country.
The Independent Battery Manufacturers Association, (IBMA), consists of U.S. and overseas lead-acid battery manufacturers and suppliers to the battery manufacturing industry. IBMA is a not for profit organization that exists to advance the technical science of the manufacture of lead-acid batteries; to promote and develop standards of quality; to aid in sound business practices; to help members in advertising and sales promotion; to safeguard standards of honor, integrity and courtesy among members and to encourage and facilitate a better and cordial relationship with the general public. IBMA is affiliated with several other associations and contributes monies and involvement in environmental legislation and concerns. IBMA is the publisher of The Battery Man Magazine (Monthly trade journal), and the IBMA hosts an annual convention. We also publish a biannual directory titled SLIG Buyer's Guide a listing of manufacturers, consultants and products for the industry. This is a worldwide listing and the new edition will be available in March 2001.
International Network on Small Hydro Power was co-founded by UNDP, UNIDO, China's government and some other international/regional institutes in 1994, with the aim of imoroving the development of SHP worldwide through so-called Triangular Cooperation among developed countries, developing countries and international organizations. The secretariat of IN-SHP is at Hangzhou, China. Traning, consultation, information/expertise exchange and technology transfer are the main activities of IN-SHP.

The IEPA is a non-profit trade association representing the interests of firms involved with cogeneration, wind, solar, hydroelectricity, and geothermal technologies. The IEPA advocates policies that create market opportunities for the independent power industry.
Independent Power Providers (IPP) is a non-profit network of dealers, manufacturers, installers, and purchasers of residential and small-commercial scale renewable energy systems, and renewable energy advocates. IPP promotes and supports end user ownership of renewable energy systems. IPP advocates net billing for utility-connected renewable energy systems, licensing and standards of expertise for system installers, and technical standards and conformance to building and electric codes for renewable energy systems. It also promotes the development of financing opportunities for renewable energy system purchasers. IPP provides referrals to qualified members who are suppliers and installers of renewable power systems for potential end users.
The International Lead Zinc Research Organization, Inc. was formed in 1958 as a non-profit research foundation for the purpose of conducting research on behalf of the international community of lead and zinc miners and smelters. Since that time, ILZRO's membership has grown to include significant numbers of end-users of these metals from among the steel, automotive, die casting, battery, galvanizing and other industries. ILZRO's R&D portfolio for 1999-2000 covers most major areas of lead and zinc consumption, as well as significant work in the areas of the environment and human health. The results of ILZRO R&D efforts are communicated through a variety of forums, including research reports, technical seminars, expert consulting, internet sites and printed publications.
The Laboratory of Energy, Ecology and Economy (LEEE) is integrated into the Department of Environment, Construction and Design of the University of Applied Sciences of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI).
