The Texas Renewable Energy Industries Association is a nonprofit organization in the State of Texas with the following mission and objectives: Establish an effective relationship with our local, state, and national governments; Increase public awareness of the "here and now" contribution of renewables, as well as of their vast potential; Aggressively promote the use of renewable energy; Encourage high business and professional ethics and standards; To provide cooperation and liaison with other persons, organizations and institutions having an interest in the utilization of renewable energy in a constructive and beneficial manner; To cooperate in and contribute towards the enhancement of widespread understanding of the various applications of renewable energy; To engage in any lawful activities which will enhance the efficient and economic progress of the renewable energy industry and inform the public of its scope and character, such as, but not limited to, collecting and disseminating trade statistics and other useful information; to carry on and assist in research investigations and experiments; to conduct conferences and produce publications; and to conduct trade promotion activities; To cooperate with such private or govermental bodies, corporations, associations, institutions, societies, agencies or persons as are now or may hereafter be engaged in whole or in part in furtherance of the objectives and purposes herein named.
The Alliance provides directories for a variety of energy efficienct technologies. These directories include descriptions of the technology, and where it can be purchased throughout Canada. (i.e. lighting, variable speed drives, etc.)
The Low Impact Hydropower Institute (LIHI), a non profit organization based in Berkeley, is dedicated to promoting the certification of environmentally responsible, "low impact," hydropower. LIHI is proud to announce that on May 1, 2000, review of the first application for certification, submitted by the Fall River Rural Electric Cooperative for its Island Park Hydroelectric Project in Idaho, began.
