Since our founding in 1998, over 9, 250 students have taken our hands-on and online solar PV training courses. Over 3, 000 students have attended our courses on ecological design, sustainable living practices and alternative construction techniques like straw-bale, cob, and bamboo. Students come from all over the United States and from abroad to attend classes taught by professionals in the field. Since 1995, over half a million people have visited our 12-acre demonstration Solar Living Center located in Hopland, California. The site is powered entirely by working renewable energy systems, and features a 5, 000 sq. foot straw bale building with innovative passive solar design and the creative use of recycled materials. For more than 35 years, the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) has been at the forefront of all training and education for municipal solid waste professionals. Being the oldest, largest and most well-respected organization in the field, SWANA acts as the leading authority and advocate on solid waste issues. Our mission is to advance the practice of environmentally and economically sound management of municipal solid waste in North America.
The combined programs of the Solar Rating and Certification Corporation (SRCC) provide certification, national recognition, product credibility, and standardized comparisons of solar water heating products. The SRCC programs serve three primary constituencies: the solar energy industry, solar consumers, and regulatory/incentive bodies.
